The Laserfit lens process with wavefront-guided optics is now in its fourteenth clinical year. In October 2022, Dr. Gemoules presented his most recent updated scientific information on the process he developed to a group of colleagues who gathered in Sorrento, Italy in October, 2022. That presentation is now available here in the link below. The presentation includes the statistics on how much vision improvement is possible with Laserfit lenses for patients who suffer from keratoconus and further demonstrates why Laserfit is still the leading lens solution for patients with elevated higher order aberrations. The presentation also includes some interesting slides which further demonstrate the powerful capabilities of LASERFIT.
SUMMIT LECTURE 2022
We have now just updated that information with the latest 52 consecutive keratoconus eyes with this new slide. Using a histogram it is easier to demonstrate what the typical patient can expect in the way of improvements in the higher order aberrations as compared to lenses using standard sphero-cylindrical optics. Most will see an improvement in the 70% range, followed by 60% and then 80%, for a mean of 66%. This documents that we have achieved in a clinical setting what was only possible in a controlled academic research environment in the past. This patient cohort does contain a few patients with various degrees of corneal haze secondary to keratoconus and crosslinking. Two eyes representing the lowest and highest data points (outliers) were also excluded.
